The winter transfer market proves to be a period of intense rumour and possible major moves. A number of high-profile players are being connected to transfers out of their present clubs. We examine a selection of the major figures who are poised to be changing clubs this month.

Antoine Semenyo

Although the Black Stars' inability to reach the Africa Cup of Nations, this has left the forward available, reports suggest a significant move is imminent. The Bournemouth attacker has a deal with a sizeable buy-out clause active for a short window at the start of the month. Latest developments point to the Premier League champions look to have won the race for his services. Other suitors like Chelsea and Tottenham are said to have turned their attention to alternative targets, leaving teams like Liverpool or Manchester United to attempt a late bid.

Marc Guéhi

This England defender has continued to impress for Palace this season a previous transfer to Liverpool falling through. With his deal set to expire in the summer, January is the club's final opportunity to secure a transfer fee for their captain. A host of top sides, including City and several continental powerhouses including Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, are believed to hold an interest. Yet, a winter exit remains unlikely, particularly given the coach's reliance on the defender.

Brennan Johnson

The Welsh forward has found first-team opportunities limited at Tottenham this campaign. Despite finishing as the club's leading goalscorer the previous campaign, he has started only a handful of league games. It is understood the London outfit would be open to a transfer for the correct valuation, thought to be in the around £40 million. Bournemouth are currently at the front of the queue, with Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, and Brentford additionally credited with an interest.

Tottenham rate the Welsh international at approximately £40m.

R. Neves

This Portugal midfielder might be set for a return to the Premier League after a spell in Saudi Arabia. Still only twenty-eight, and with his agreement expiring in the summer of 2026, he is a possible opportunity. Clubs like Manchester United and Liverpool are connected to the former Wolves man. Furthermore, there are rumours from Spanish media that he is willing to accept a reduced salary for a switch to the Spanish giants.

M. ter Stegen

The veteran Germany goalkeeper is now as third-choice at Barcelona following new coach Hansi Flick. After fallen out of favour and undergone surgery, a winter exit seems highly likely. Villa were once mentioned as a potential suitor, but that option currently seems off. Instead, clubs from Turkey and Saudi Arabia are thought to be expressing interest in the keeper.

Ivan Toney

The prolific English striker has continued scoring regularly in the Middle East. Coming back to the Premier League might boost his dwindling chances of being in the England World Cup. But, securing a transfer poses major challenges. His current club are reluctant to part with him, and his alleged huge weekly wages render any agreement difficult. Tottenham, Manchester United, and Everton are all mentioned as interested parties.

C. Gallagher

H. Elliott

Despite excelling and being named the best player award at the Under-21 European Championship last summer, the young player has found it tough for minutes during his loan spell at Aston Villa. Unai Emery has confirmed the temporary transfer won't be made permanent. Due to FIFA regulations about representing two clubs in a campaign, a return to his parent club before next summer seems to be the sole available solution.

Kenan Yildiz

This highly-rated Turkey attacker has been in fine form for the Italian giants this season. With his existing deal nearing its end, many English sides – such as Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, and Tottenham – are keeping tabs on the situation. The Turin club are desperate to tie down the 20-year-old to a lengthy agreement but are in a race to retain one of Europe's most promising prospects.

Kees Smit

The highly-touted Netherlands teenage midfielder has earned comparisons to a Belgian superstar for his playing style. After impressing at the Under-19 European Championship, he has become a regular in the AZ Alkmaar side. This teenager is heavily expected to complete a big-money transfer in January. Newcastle United are believed to be leading the chase, but could face stiff competition from Real Madrid for a signing valued at around twenty-two million pounds.
